Former Investment Banker Brings 25-Years of Finance and Engineering Experience
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cepton Technologies, Inc. (“Cepton”), a leading provider of state-of-the-art, intelligent, lidar-based solutions, announced today the addition of Hull Xu as Vice President of Finance and Strategy. In the newly created role, Xu will oversee financial reporting and planning, capital raising, investor relations, and corporate development activities.
A seasoned finance leader with an extensive background in engineering, Xu joins Cepton from Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), where he led the automotive technology and semiconductor investment banking coverage, and advised numerous technology companies on equity and debt capital raise as well as mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining RBC, Xu served as Vice President at Barclays Capital, covering global electronics clients across semiconductor design, manufacturing and capital equipment industries. Xu began his career as an electrical engineer, working in various roles at Hewlett Packard, Agilent Technologies, and Turin Networks.
“I am pleased to welcome Hull Xu to our dynamic Cepton team,” said Jun Pei, co-founder and CEO of Cepton. “A keen leader in the finance and technology space, Xu has an eye for innovation and creativity, and we look forward to harnessing his talents as we continue to grow Cepton into a household name in the lidar space.”

The benefits of the partnership, which offers clients greater usability, safety, and cleanliness of large spaces, can already be seen at Orlando International Airport (MCO).
“As a former investment banker in the rapidly evolving auto tech sector, I have tremendous respect and admiration for the Cepton team. They have created a series of game-changing lidar solutions for mass adoption,” said Xu. “I am joining Cepton at an inflection point to help the company through its next phase of growth.”
