Cepton is seeking a Senior System Design Engineer to design and validate high performance 3D LiDAR product, and also support new product introduction to volume manufacturing process in order to support automotive and non-automotive customers.
Develop LiDAR system and subsystem requirement and specs
Develop system architecture and provide system/subsystem error budget and tradeoff analysis
Highly self-motivated and also capable of leading and driving cross-function team to integrate and characterize system and module-level prototypes, and highly efficient at system issue debug, root cause partition as well as system solution development
In-depth understanding of optical system and good hand-on skillset on the optical system alignment, characterization and validation
Some knowledge about circuitry theory with good hand-on troubleshooting experience on high-speed mixed signal electronics is a big plus
Good team player, collaborative with other functional engineers to complete projects in a fast-paced R&D environment
Is willing to work with manufacturing team to help maturity on volume production
Support LiDAR use case understanding and escalation, and work w/ key customers
Reliable and independent work style, highly accountable and responsible for the outputs and working well under pressure.
Bachelor degree or equivalent in the fields of electrical engineering, physics, material, and optics plus 5+ years of working experience in the field, or Master and Ph.D. plus 2+ years of working experience in the fields
Should be familiar with scientific analysis and SW tools such as Matlab, Python, Zemax, and LabView.
Good record and career history as the system engineer capable of solving complex technical problems in the fields of sophisticated equipment, sensors, optical systems, electronics systems
Should be able to define objectives clearly, conduct analysis and experiment methodically, create and track schedules effectively, and drive the team to a solution efficiently
