Senior Engineering Program Manager

Cepton has a critical role for an experienced person to lead our program management of the development, validation and launch of state-of-the-art, complex lidar systems (HW, FW, SW, system) targeted towards automotive markets (ADAS and AV). This is a high-impact role that requires diligent planning, well managed execution and timely delivery of market leading lidar solutions to major automotive OEMs worldwide. This role will be based in San Jose, CA.

Key Responsibilites:



  • Develop a deep understanding of the lidar system development lifecycle and work closely with key stakeholders across every functional group to clearly and comprehensively map out all dependencies, and build a comprehensive, cross-functional plan for launching lidar systems into high volume

  • Work closely with product management/marketing to ensure that requirements are thoroughly documented, addressed and change-managed as part of the development plan

  • Identify key risks across all activities and develop a simple framework to mitigate risks and prevent avoidable issues from impacting program schedules and execution

  • Ensure that there is a clear understanding of resource needs and bottlenecks and help the executive team prioritize our focus to keep the execution on track

  • Infuse Cepton’s quality and product maturity framework into the planning and execution to drive consistent achievement of product quality and reliability goals across all aspects of development and delivery

  • Support the implementation of a quality-centric culture into all of our activities and drive critical verification, validation and test activities, analysis and corrective action, as needed

  • Become the single focal point and owner for all program related updates and communication for all stakeholders, including executives, partners and customers

  • Host, organize & participate in program meetings & conference calls, and document meeting minutes and actions diligently - while being be respectful of everyone’s time to minimize the number of meetings and updates required; be a quick learner and add value to the engineering team

  • Be extremely efficient in driving closure on program issues and escalate appropriately when needed

  • Manage product deliveries to lead customers and provide needed support for customer communications

  • Be a precise and objective communicator at all times to ensure that the entire product/program team is well informed and is able to quickly make informed decisions



Qualifications:



  • Bachelors or higher degree in a science or engineering discipline

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of deep experience in program management of complex HW/system products and solutions including ICs, components, PCBAs/hardware, firmware, software and fully integrated solutions sold to enterprise customers

  • Track record of building deep and trusting relationships with key stakeholders and developing the respect of top technical team members and executives

  • Outstanding communication skills in English (written, verbal and presentation)

  • Strong skills with project management tools as well as productivity and communication tools, including Project, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • A passion to be part of a nimble, fast-paced team that’s at the forefront of one of the newest technologies in the automotive industry and help make the company very successful

  • Ability to travel as needed, within the US and internationally



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with lidar technology and lidar perception

  • Good knowledge / understanding of automotive industry terminologies, processes, and milestones for series production programs

  • Prior experience working with Japanese customers

  • Japanese language proficiency and good Japanese cultural background and experience
