Cepton has a unique role available for a Business Development Director to manage our engagements across ADAS and Autonomous Vehicles programs with Japanese and Korean OEMs, Tier 1s and the connected Asian automotive ecosystem. This is a high-impact role that will drive relationships with some of our largest customers and will have regular interaction with our top executives.
As a key member of the Automotive Business Development team, reporting to the Vice President of Business Development, the role is based from Cepton’s headquarters in San Jose CA.
The Director of Business Development for Automotive Programs Asia will:
Engage with the Japanese and Korean automotive OEMs Tier 1 and Autonomous Vehicle companies with a goal of securing serial production programs.
Establish key relationships and drive collaboration across the automotive ecosystem throughout Asia.
Manage, support and further develop Cepton’s Tier 1 partnerships in the region.
Be the voice of the customer providing insight and accurately represent customer program requirements.
Manage the response process to OEM RFIs and RFQs in partnership with our Tier 1 partners.
Manage, across all levels, Cepton’s business and relationships with Japan Tier 1 and Automotive OEMs and partners.
Support sales, marketing major tradeshow events to further expand awareness of Cepton’s MMT lidar and 3D sensing solutions
What we are looking for?
Holds a BSc or BEng in Engineering (preferably electronic, electrical or mechanical) from a leading university.
Based in San Francisco Bay Area
Has 20+ years’ experience with large customer corporations (combination of Japanese and US or European corporations preferred)
Ideally is currently working in a business development role supporting the Japanese/Asian automotive market with a business and commercial skill set
Able to travel without restriction between USA and Japan.
Able to articulate automotive industry-standard legal and business language
Be able to demonstrate an intimate knowledge of the Japan and Korean automotive industry ecosystem through OEM or Tier 1 work experience.
Be technically proficient to communicate around lidar and Perception software technologies and concepts.
Can demonstrate knowledge and experience with vehicle technology applications in some of the following domains: Autonomous systems radar, camera, lidar, functional safety, automotive lighting or ADAS.
Have the capacity to manage an automotive technical program engagement team from early engagement through to automotive qualification and SOP.
Familiar with automotive terminologies, language and processes common to ADAS and advanced levels of automotive autonomy.
Experience with lidar technology preferred.
Has knowledge of Tier 1 and automotive OEM programs, requirements and SOP timescales.
Has cultured relationships with relevant key stakeholders across management, engineering and commercial domains throughout the Japanese and Korean automotive market.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Japanese
Fluent in Japanese
Strong project management skills
