Business Development Lead, North America

Cepton has a unique role available for a person to lead our business development efforts in North America in markets such as intelligent transportation systems, smart spaces and autonomous systems. This is a high-impact role that will drive relationships and substantial business opportunities with key customers, system integration partners and distributors. This role will be based in San Jose, California.

Key Responsibilites:



  • Manage and strongly develop key customer, system integration partner and Distributor relationships in region

  • Manage and strongly develop key customer, system integration partner and Distributor relationships in region

  • Create, manage and successfully execute on annual and quarterly business plans for the region

  • Be the voice of the customer, develop a keen understanding of customer needs and requirements, and work with HQ team to prepare technical, price and delivery proposals

  • Manage deliveries to customer and provide needed customer support; organize and manage customer demos

  • Develop a good understanding of offerings and capabilities of major competitors and help Cepton stay on top of industry and customer trends

  • Provide necessary project management and oversight, and stellar customer issue resolution and communication

  • Manage opportunities diligently, create reliable monthly and quarterly forecasts and track/execute to that forecast

  • Manage and drive Distributor/Partner business and execution of leads/opportunities

  • Manage the responses to RFIs and RFQs in partnership with HQ team

  • Manage corporate events and trade shows with support from Distributors and HQ team

  • Identify high ROI marketing opportunities for Cepton in-region and help build Cepton’s brand and awareness as one of the top lidar companies in the world



Qualifications:



  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in Sales/Business Development/Product Marketing, with a track record of significantly growing revenue

  • Experience with lidar technology and lidar perception; good knowledge / understanding of lidar industry ecosystem and trends/drivers of lidar adoption among target customers in markets like ITS, smart spaces and autonomous systems

  • Familiar with terminologies, processes, milestones and timelines for new product/production launches

  • Ability to understand and translate customer requirements (technical and business) to enable Cepton to provide the right and timely solutions to customers

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong English language skills (oral, written, presentation) and high emotional intelligence to manage a variety of customers and relationships across all levels

  • Bachelors or higher degree in a science or engineering discipline

  • Able to travel without significant restrictions especially within North America

  • Strong skills with typical productivity, CRM and communication tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, etc.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Good knowledge and experience with sensor applications in on or more of the following areas: camera, radar, thermal imaging

  • Prior experience working with a lidar company
