Accounting Manager

As a key member of Cepton's Finance team, the Accounting Manager will own the outcomes of the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, consolidations and the documentation of accounting policies and procedures. He or She has in-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, proficiency in accounting systems, and strong motivation to contribute to the achievement of an efficient monthly/quarterly/annual close and financial reporting process. He or She pays great attention to detail and the ability to deliver results under deadlines as well as working effectively cross-functionally in a rapidly changing environment. This position will report to the Corporate Controller.

Key Responsibilites:


  • Responsible for reviewing or preparing transactions in the areas of AR, Fixed Assets, Inventory to ensure reported numbers are accurately prepared on time.

  • Support the month end close process to ensure accuracy and integrity within the financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

  • Coordinate with sales and manufacturing team to maintain the sales and inventory database and customer hierarchy in NetSuite.

  • Liaise with outside service provider on payroll, account reconciliations and monthly close process and prepare financial statements for foreign subsidiaries

  • Support the consolidation of financial statements.

  • Prepare and analyze changes in balance sheet and income statement accounts and makes recommendations to correct errors as appropriate.

  • Oversee accounting operations for ASC 606, ASC842 and other new areas of accounting operations from business growth.

  • Assist in the preparation of various supporting schedules for internal financial, external financial, tax, and external audit of annual financial statements, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor questions and requests.

  • Assist in documenting internal processes/controls as well as identifying actionable insights and suggest recommendations to address issues and improve accounting efficiencies.

  • Identify risks, maintain proper control, and make practical recommendations to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the financial close process.

  • Perform technical accounting research and draft accounting position papers as needed. Propose and help implement proper accounting procedures in accordance with GAAP and IFRS, for areas under functional area of responsibility.

  • Develop strong partnerships across the organization to stay informed of transactions impacting the financial statements.

  • Participate in various ad hoc projects and analysis.



What We Value:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study

  • 5+ years of accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibilities - Big 4 or large regional public accounting experience required (CPA a big plus)

  • Technical knowledge of GAAP and demonstration of deep understanding of accounting fundamentals

  • Experience in manufacturing environment and Standard Costing

  • A hands-on approach and strong attention to details

  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-growing environment - we're a startup and are continuing to grow; this requires strong multi-tasking skills and the flexibility to quickly switch from one project to the next

  • Experience with NetSuite and advanced Excel knowledge
