Senior Accountant

As a key member of Cepton's Finance team, the Senior Accountant will own the outcomes of the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations and the documentation of accounting policies and procedures. He or she will have in-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, proficiency in accounting systems, and strong motivation to contribute to the achievement of an efficient monthly/quarterly/annual close and financial reporting process. He or she will pay great attention to detail, and will have the ability to deliver results under deadlines as well as to work effectively cross-functionally in a rapidly changing environment. This position will report to the Corporate Controller, and has the benefit of opportunity of promotion to an Accounting Manager within one-two years of employment.


Responsibilites:


  • Responsible for reviewing or preparing transactions in the areas of Cash, AR, AP/Accruals, Payroll, Fixed Assets, Inventory and account reconciliations to ensure reported numbers are accurately prepared on time.

  • Assist in managing the full cycle financial close process and related activities to ensure complete and accurate financials in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly income statement and balance sheet analysis for specific accounts and assist in monthly budget variance analysis.

  • Oversee accounting operations for ASC 606, ASC842 and other new areas of accounting operations from business growth.

  • Coordinate with sales and manufacturing team to maintain the sales database and customer hierarchy within NetSuite.

  • Liaise with outside service provider on payroll, account reconciliations and monthly close process for international entities.

  • Support the external audit of the company's annual financial statements, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor questions and requests.

  • Identify risks, maintain proper control, and make practical recommendations to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the financial close process.

  • Perform technical accounting research and draft accounting position papers as needed. Propose and help implement proper accounting procedures in accordance with GAAP and IFRS, for areas under functional area of responsibility.

  • Develop strong partnerships across the organization to stay informed of transactions impacting the financial statements.

  • Participate in various ad hoc projects and analysis.



Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study.

  • 4+ years of accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibilities - Big 4 or large regional public accounting experience required

  • Technical knowledge of GAAP and demonstration of deep understanding of accounting fundamentals

  • A hands-on approach and strong attention to details

  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-growing environment - we’re a startup and are continuing to grow; this requires strong multi-tasking skills and the flexibility to quickly switch from one project to the next

  • Experience with NetSuite and advanced Excel knowledge

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in manufacturing environment and Standard Costing a plus

  • CPA a big plus
