Dr. Pei is an entrepreneur and technologist in optics and electronics. He developed the first optical and acoustical combination technique in semiconductor thin film measurement and holds numerous patents in the field of metrology. Before co-founding Cepton, Dr. Pei founded AEP Technology to develop advanced 3D instruments and pioneered parallel computing in interference microscope. Earlier in his career, he worked as a senior scientist at KLA-Tencor in optics equipment and also led engineering team at Velodyne in advancing the HDL-64 Lidar. Dr. Pei received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
Prior to co-founding Cepton, Dr. McCord was Director of System Engineering, Advanced Development at KLA-Tencor. He has also served as an associate professor at Stanford University, and as a research staff member at IBM Research. Dr. McCord received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
Dr. Fu has built tech companies for 20+ years as board member, investor and operator. He is a founder of LDV Partners, a Silicon Valley VC firm and investor in Cepton. Previously, Dr. Fu was a general partner at US Venture Partners and served as CFO and Chairman of Active-Semi until its acquisition by Qorvo. Prior to that, he co-founded Vixel Corp. He has an MBA from Kellogg, a Ph. D. from Stanford and a B.S. from MIT.
T. R. Ramachandran is a 22 year tech industry veteran with deep experience in launching advanced IC and system products to market and scaling them to high volume. He was previously VP of Product Management at Velodyne, and since 2017 he has been at the forefront of making lidar a mainstream technology across a range of industries. Prior to that, as a VP at LSI, he helped pave the way for its sale to Avago (Broadcom) for $6.6B. Dr. Ramachandran has a B. Tech from IIT, Madras and a Ph.D. from USC.
Dr. Han manages Cepton's engineering team and operations. Previously, Dr. Han was Director of Engineering & Technology at KLA-Tencor, responsible for core technology innovation and new product introduction. Dr. Han received a Ph.D. in Applied Physics and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, with a specialty in solid-state electronics and optics.
Dr. Liao leads a team responsible for developing firmware, perception algorithms and other software for Cepton’s lidars to provide complete smart lidar solutions. Prior to Cepton, Dr. Liao co-founded YourMechanic.com. He also served in various engineering and managerial roles at NVIDIA. Dr. Liao has a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from MIT.
Mr. Chang oversees Cepton's manufacturing and collaboration with leading contract manufacturing partners. Prior to Cepton, Mr. Chang served in engineering roles at leading Australian manufacturing companies making a wide range of consumer, commercial and industrial products. Mr. Chang has a B.Eng. in Automobile Engineering from Tsinghua University and an MBA from Macquarie University.
Dr. Wang is responsible for validation, quality & reliability, and functional safety at Cepton. Previously, she played key roles in product validation, reliability testing & analysis, quality management and customer support at leading optoelectronic companies. Dr. Wang has a B.Eng. in Optical Engineering from Tsinghua University and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UNL.
